The Ancestral Amulet - Second Edition
An amulet of protection drawn from my family's preserved craft. Made to stand as a shield against malice and bodily harm. Made on demand — each one prepared individually, for the person who orders it.
This amulet carries the same formula as my family's protective work, transmitted through my great-aunt Marija and my aunt Vera. It is made for protection — not as a metaphor, but as a charged presence that holds its ground.
Each amulet follows the same recipe and process as the original series, with a single substitution for one ingredient that can no longer be obtained. The formulation has been carefully adjusted to preserve the amulet's original effect and power. The remaining elements — wax from ritually used candles made by local beekeepers; Black Hawthorn (Crataegus nigra) hand-picked in Serbia by my mother; and Royal Hojari Frankincense from Oman — remain unchanged. These are combined with other components whose character and virtue continue to ensure the amulet's protective strength.
The ingredients are sealed in a ball of wax, which acts as the vessel. Wax binds, protects, and preserves what it encloses, ensuring that the work is both contained and enduring. Each amulet is placed in a red dupion silk pouch, sewn by me with care. The choice of red is deliberate: in Balkan folk traditions, red is the color of protection, used to ward off harm and avert malice.
The power of this amulet was confirmed once more through the cards: Fool, Wheel of Fortune, World — a story of transformation and ascent. The unguarded Fool, exposed to peril, meets a turning of fate that crowns him as the World — radiant, encircled, and protected from all sides. Above them, the Hermit appears, lantern in hand, followed by his serpent companion — a guardian spirit moving ahead to warn of what lies before him. In this way, the amulet mirrors that very power: it calls forth a familiar presence that stands as one's silent protector.
This amulet is not a replica, but a continuation of the same current. It stands in the same lineage, carrying forward the same protection and strength.
Because each piece is made on demand, no two are identical. Each is prepared and consecrated individually, in its own time, for the person it is made for.
